Targeted Species

River Bass

We target black bass of several species year round in almost all of our fisheries, with Shoal Bass being our opponent of choice. These fish are found in very few places, and our region holds some of the best opportunities for catching both good numbers and size! In addition to Shoalies, we also catch Spotted Bass, Alabama Bass, and Largemouth Bass on our float and wading trips.

Sunfish

A common bycatch when targeting bass, Sunfish, or Bream as we like to call them down south, can make for a great day of fly fishing or ultralight spin fishing! We have over a half dozen species here in Georgia, and a few like Redbreast and Shellcrackers that reach sizes over a pound. We use 4-6wt fly rods for these scrappy fighters, and most days we use dry flies and poppers, making for a visually exciting experience!

Gar

These prehistoric monsters can put a serious bend in a rod. Reaching lengths of over 6ft, these are the longest fish that live in our local waters, and they are extremely aggressive predators. We sight fish for these dinosaurs beginning in the spring when our waters begin to clear up, and their acrobatic jumps and long runs will put your angling skills to the test! Don’t worry, we’ll handle the teeth for you. All you need to do is hang on for one of the best fights the river has to offer!
